Breathe New Life Into Your Lawn

Core aeration that relieves compaction, improves drainage, and strengthens root systems.

What Is Core Aeration?

Aeration is one of the most important steps to maintaining a healthy, vibrant lawn. By removing small cores of soil, we improve airflow, water absorption, and nutrient penetration — giving your grass the best chance to thrive.

Our core aeration service uses specialized equipment to remove small plugs of soil from your lawn, reducing compaction and improving root growth. This process allows water, air, and nutrients to penetrate deeper, promoting stronger, healthier turf.

With professional aeration, your grass becomes more resilient and better equipped to handle heat, drought, and heavy foot traffic.

Key Benefits.

01

Deeper Root Growth

Compacted soil suffocates roots. Aeration breaks through that barrier, letting roots push deeper into the soil profile for a stronger, more drought-resistant lawn that holds up through Alberta summers.

02

Better Nutrient Absorption

Water, oxygen, and the fertilizer we apply all need a path to the roots. Aeration opens that path — meaning every treatment we put down works harder and delivers better results across your entire lawn.

03

Disease Prevention

Poor drainage and compacted soil create the perfect conditions for fungal disease. Aeration improves airflow and drainage at the soil level, helping your lawn stay healthy and recover faster from seasonal stress.

04

Thicker, Greener Turf

When roots breathe and feed properly, the results show above ground. Aerated lawns develop denser grass coverage, richer colour, and a more uniform appearance from spring through fall.

When to Aerate.

Edmonton has predominantly clay-loam soil, which compacts easily and restricts air, water, and nutrient flow to the roots. Compacted soil is one of the biggest reasons lawns struggle in our region.

Best Time

Early Spring or Early Fall

Spring aeration takes advantage of moist soil from snowmelt and the grass entering peak growth. Fall aeration prepares the lawn for winter.

Frequency

Once Per Year

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration. Heavily used or compacted lawns may benefit from twice yearly.

Included in Our Islander Program.

Core aeration is included as part of our Islander 5-Visit Program, which combines fertilization, weed control, and aeration into one comprehensive package. It can also be added to any other program as a standalone service.
